She came to me as a grown up dog. (3yrs.)
Not trained, not used to serve as a dobermann should and wants.
She didn't have limits or orders and was let to do anything she wanted.
So she was a bit of a project in the beginning. But we learned much from each other.
After a while she was a good guardian and a wonderful companion to do sports with.
Our favourite activity together was bikejöring and nordic walking.
As she got in pension from sports, I had her with me working in a facility
for children who had been taken in custody for many reasons.
The children could play with her, feed her, brush her and take her out for walks
and both parties enjoyed their time together. So she served as a therapydog.
Candy was put to sleep with almost 10yrs. (which is a good age for a dobermann) as
her neck and spine were not working as they should anymore and she would have lost her
dignity as an active doberman.
(She got painkillers, natural remedy and acupuncture treatments from a vet as long as they helped, but
the last decision was ours to make...)
